One thing is counted: a sign-in code you generated that has an account connected to it. A code nobody connected is never billed, and a person in your records who never got one is free. Access costs $1.25 per connected code, and every current plan includes the same 30-day organisation trial.

Each card shows one number: capabilities with status shipped in that plan, including the safety floor carried by every plan. The link on the number opens that plan’s live capability list. Every current plan includes 30 free days. The month they end in is free too; after that, each month-end invoice is the plan rate times the total connected-code stock for the closed calendar month — not merely codes created during it.

Twenty-eight capabilities are platform law. They are written into every organisation the moment it is created, and they cannot be removed by an admin, by us, by a plan change or by a stray database update — a trigger refuses it with a message that says why.
Four separate flows, and they are worth keeping apart: what your organisation pays us, what a family pays your organisation, what your organisation pays a host family, and what happens when any of it fails.
Card or SEPA direct debit, through Stripe — we never see or store a card number, and the secret key lives only in a server function, never in a browser and never in the database.
Billed monthly in arrears, so you are invoiced for a month that already happened rather than one we predicted. Every invoice prints the number it was metered on — “June 2026 · 1,284 connected codes” — because a bill you cannot check is a bill you have to argue about.
Withdrawals come back as a credit note against the next invoice, listed in the same place as everything else.
Only an admin can see invoices and payment methods — that is enforced by the database, not by hiding a menu item. Staff and coordinators are not shown a billing screen because they are not sent the rows.
Programme fees are shown as a plan with dates, not a total with a shock. A deposit and three instalments is the normal shape, every line is itemised, and the page says what is not included — flights, visa fee, pocket money — with an estimate, before anybody signs.
A missed instalment is a conversation. Nothing changes for the student: her placement, her school and her support continue, and the three options offered are retry, split into smaller instalments, or talk to someone confidentially.
Financial aid is reviewed by a person, never scored by Ariadne — and asking for it is invisible to the host family and the school.
If families pay through us, card processing is 1.4% + $0.25 per transaction. You can also collect fees entirely outside Audecius and use the plan purely to track them.
Stipends run as a prepared batch: every family, every amount, and the exceptions separated out — stale bank details, a missing tax form — so the problems are a list of three rather than a hunt through forty.
Ariadne prepares the run and flags the exceptions. She cannot release it. That is law [5.39], and it is enforced by the absence of a function rather than by a permission.

Five steps over sixty days. Each one removes organisational convenience — never a student’s safety, and never anybody’s data. You always see which step you are on and what the next one takes away. And the ladder ends in a human, not a shut-off.
An email to the billing owner. Nothing changes in the product.

New invite codes pause. On plans that include Ariadne, her automation pauses too. Daily work continues.
No new placements or records. Everything existing stays readable and editable, for safety.

Every current plan starts with 30 free days on your own data — not a demo dataset. Spreadsheet import is part of the product; the source workbook remains on the administrator’s device unless it is separately uploaded to the private workbook library.
Beside your current process, not instead of it. An import is previewed before it commits and reversible for thirty days, and an ambiguous row is flagged rather than merged — we never guess a person.
The organisation trial asks for no card and does not turn into an automatic paid subscription. Once it ends, payment setup is required before additional connected codes can be issued. Before leaving, an administrator can take the supported organisation archive and use the guarded closure flow.

Every month is metered in arrears on the codes actually connected that month — so growing mid-year simply shows on the next invoice, and shrinking does too. No back-charge, no surprise invoice.
